It leaped out of the tired hands
of the substitute like fire.
They scattered from its land
and its turn into hideous barbwire.
Tearing, trapping their precious grades
and ripping and destroying their GPA.
It turned and twisted the words around
until all the students laid flat on the ground.
The sentences and stanzas flew and wrapped
around their dazed bodies: confused and lost.
Until their brittle bones all but snapped.
The students paid the most precious cost.
For refusing to study sonnets and stanzas
and banking on having a free day extravaganza!
This made me laugh until I cried. I'm going to have to figure out something to do with those quizzes you took yesterday...BUT YOU AREN'T OFF THE HOOK!
ReplyDeleteI like your untraditional sonnet...the random stanzas also fit in with the subject of the poem.
(: it wasn't that bad. i just felt like being dramatic haha (:
